WASHINGTON-CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica is taking to the airwaves to market the CUNA/Credit Union Home Loan Payment Relief program. CUNA kicked off the program Oct. 31 with a press conference at the National Press Club and followed up with a Nov. 10 `radio tour.’ Mica reached between five and 10 million radio listeners in interviews with stations in Raleigh, N.C.; Indianapolis; Boston; New York; Dayton, and Minneapolis. He has also recently given interviews with stations in Baltimore, Boston, and the Jim Bohanon Show on the Westwood One Network, which reaches upward of five million listeners, emphasizing how HLPR works. HLPR is a $1 billion initiative aimed at increasing the amount of mortgage credit to first-time homebuyers of modest means. HLPR loans are below-market-rate mortgages for borrowers with household incomes at or below the median in their markets. Another radio tour was planned for Nov. 17.
