SANTA ANA , Calif. – Orange County's Credit Union members and staffers have helped raise a total of $29,095 to benefit the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts. A fundraising drive was held in all OCCU branches throughout the month of September and individual contributions were matched dollar-for-dollar. Contributors were recognized with their names printed on patriotic hearts in the branch lobbies and the CU's headquarters in Santa Ana. "We are proud to support the American Red Cross in its relief efforts to assist the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. We work with a great group of caring and generous associates, members and volunteers who made this donation drive a success," said OCCU Vice President of Business Projects Leslie Nguyen, who organized the donation drive. It is estimated that Hurricane Katrina relief efforts will exceed $2 billion in order to meet the survivors' needs ranging from food, shelter, emergency financial assistance and physical and mental health services.
