WAUKEGAN, Ill. – Consumers Cooperative Credit Union has donated a total of $7,518 to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief fund. Members and employees alike opened their hearts and wallets to help those affected by the devastating storm. In addition to a monetary donation, CCCU staffers and members donated food, clothing, baby diapers and baby food, pet food, toiletries and cleaning supplies. All five CCCU branches served as collection sites for these items, which were delivered to a Houston food bank. “Charities often face severe shortages in funds, food and clothing when catastrophic disaster of this magnitude occurs,” said CCCU President Sean Rathjen. “As a result, it’s more important than ever to do what we can to support these organizations. We are very proud of our employees who raised an impressive amount of money for a very worthy cause. We would also like to thank the many members who donated their money, food and clothing items.” To lend a hand to impacted credit unions, CCCU has donated $1,000 to the World Council of Credit Unions to help rebuilding efforts.
