TAMPA, Fla. – GTE Federal Credit Union will be converting to Open Solutions Inc.’s core processing platform soon after more than two decades as a client of its current provider, the $2.1 billion CU says. “We’ve been using the same system for 23 years, but our recent growth has dictated that we needed a more powerful, feature-rich solution for data processing,” says John Thompson, senior vice president of IT at GTE FCU (www.gtefcu.org). The 240,000-member, 38-branch CU is currently a Summit Information Systems client, according to the NCUA Web site. The CU has more than 1,400 SEGS and has been adding about 3,500 new members a month. “We have successfully completed five acquisitions of smaller institutions in the past four years, and we’re on track for even more aggressive growth in the next few years. It was very important for our new solution to be sophisticated and dynamic enough to support products and services for a wide range of members in varying geographic areas,” Thompson says. In addition to The Complete Credit Union Solution platform, GTE also will be using CRM, Internet banking, financial accounting, collections, voice response and imaging systems from OSI (www.opensolutions.com).
