HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Redstone FCU has joined the long list of credit unions that are pitching in to help in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. For starters, the $1.7 billion CU's new mobile ATM is temporarily on the Mississippi Gulf Coast aiding residents affected by Hurricane Katrina who live in the Pascagoula area and are members of Navigator CU. It's the first time since the hurricane that the mobile ATM has been deployed to the Gulf Coast. The $163-million Navigator, which serves more than 21,000 members, was damaged by Katrina and is currently operating in a disaster recovery mode from four of its 10 branches. The mobile ATM is located at the Northrop Grumman ship yard which employs about 14,000 people. Two Redstone employees are on-site to coordinate its operation together with Navigator management and Redstone's vendor partners. In addition to loaning out its mobile ATM, Redstone FCU has made all of its 17 branches located throughout the Tennessee Valey available as the area's local source for people who want to make a donation to The Salvation Army. "We want everyone to know they can come to any of our branches to make a donation to this relief fund and be assured their money will go directly to this effort," said Redstone's President/CEO Gerald Toland. Donations are also being accepted at all of Redstone's drive-through areas.
