ATLANTA – Credit unions that are members of the Credit Union Service Corporation’s shared branching network will soon have the ability to access a suite of different security products which will help the keep their new Internet based products and procedures secure from attack. The products will come through a partnership CUSC has made with the Perimeter Internetworking Corporation, which describes itself as a “leading provider of managed network and security services for community financial institutions.” Using a private data circuit that was made possible thanks to CUSC’s new switch, member credit unions will now be able to access products which can help them protect their home banking transactions as well as email and other Internet operations, according to Craig Beach, vice president for Marketing for CUSC. Brad Miller, CEO of Perimeter, says the most immediate impact will be to permit smaller CUs to have access to Internet security products that most large credit unions have been able to afford. Miller said almost all credit unions will start with basic products which include a firewall and virus protection and then move up from there. The products will be priced in much the same way that cable TV channels are priced, on a subscription per product basis with larger credit unions paying higher prices than smaller ones.
