In Mike Welch's Aug. 3 column, "There Are Some Things CUs Can Do Without," Welch referenced the demise of TWA Club Credit Union writing, "But as virtually all other airline credit unions took off, TWA, the airline and the credit union, was merged out of existence." In fact, some 60 years after TWA Club Credit Union was chartered, it remains alive and well as CommunityAmerica Credit Union. The present day full-service credit union enjoys $1.5 billion in assets and over 112,000 members nationwide. And, unlike the investment club that Mr. Welch asserts, CommunityAmerica proudly maintains a healthy loan-to-share ratio of 110% proving that we are a true credit union dedicated to serving all of our members' financial needs.
