HARAHAN, La. – The Louisiana Credit Union League, Neighbors Federal Credit Union and Campus Federal Credit Union had a presence at the Youth Financial Educators’ Summit in Baton Rouge. The conference, hosted by the Louisiana Jump$tart Coalition, was designed to provide information about new developments in literacy education to Louisiana high school teachers and others who work with youth. Some of the sessions offered during the conference included “Changing Lives with the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program” presented by John Parfrey, director of the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program, and “Banking and Online Financial Services” presented by Alexis Anderson, community outreach coordinator, La DOTD Federal Credit Union. About 100 Louisiana school teachers and others who work with youth attended and credit unions handed out materials on financial literacy and provided teachers with resources that they can use in their classrooms.
