BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – St. Vincent's Medical Center Federal Credit Union will be converting to a core processing system from AFTECH next February, and going online. The $12.9 million CU has about 2,300 members and will be using the Fiserv unit's Advantage ASP Client system as well as the aftech@net Internet, e-statement and e-mail alert products. St. Vincent's President/CEO Mary Jean Ramsay says the credit union was faced with a major upgrade to its existing system to offer Internet banking and looked at several vendors. "The leading factors were the quality of the product, pricing and previous knowledge of the AFTECH system, which finalized our decision," she says. Joe Antellocy, president of AFTECH, says, "This transaction effectively expands AFTECH's market to include hundreds of credit unions that are – for now – small in size, but that need a core processing system that allows them to compete successfully against far larger institutions." St. Vincent's Medical Center FCU currently is a core processing client of another Fiserv unit, CUSA Technologies Inc., according to the NCUA Web site. AFTECH has about 75 core processing clients.
