WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – For Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union tapping former Purdue University quarterback and current NFL Quarterback Drew Brees as a spokesman has been a great partnership. Serving as a spokesman since 2001, Brees has been an active credit union member since he was in college. “While Drew continues to excel on the football field, his real accomplishments lie in working with our youth as a positive role model, teaching them the value of teamwork, perseverance and positive self-image,” said PEFCU President/CEO Bill Connors. Recently Brees made a series of promotional appearances on behalf of PEFCU including speaking to several youth groups during PEFCU’s Pep Rally at Jefferson High School. Local organizations participating in the event included the Lafayette Family YMCA, The YWCA of Greater Lafayette, Lyn Treece and Beck Lane Boys & Girls Clubs and the Community & Family Resources Center. Later that day he visited the pediatric ward of Home Hospital where he delivered gifts and balloons to pediatric patients and offered words of encouragement. Brees also made an appearance at the National Youth Sports Program at Slater Hill on the campus of Purdue University urging young people to focus on three key words – attitude, courage and goals. Brees wrapped up his appearance tour on the green participating in the PEFCU Community Business Partner golf outing at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. Brees teamed with Connors, Purdue Athletic Director Morgan Burke and Purdue Football Coach Bob Debesse to finish in first place on the Kampen course.
