JACKSON, Mich. – American 1 Federal Credit Union’s recent safety focused events has attracted over 7,000 attendees. Held over three weeks in June, each Wednesday American 1 held a kids day, where companies, fire and police departments, and organizations presented health and safety information via interactive and educational booths. This year marked the first time the credit union tried three straight events week-to-week. “The response our credit union received was wonderful,” said Kristi Latoszewski, American 1 marketing director. “American 1 really believes in teaching kids how to be safe and healthy, and having fun while learning.” For Jackson’s June 15 Kids’ Day, American 1 teamed with the local health department to showcase health and safety topics, balanced with fun elements like a rock wall, stage shows, and lots of games and prizes. The county health department raffled off seventy-five bike helmets to kids. In Hillsdale, American 1 and long-time partner The Hillsdale Daily News brought Kids’ Fest to the county fairgrounds, where a petting zoo, moonwalk, and safety-themed booths entertained area families. American 1 held the final Kids’ Day in its Battle Creek branch parking lot, with local fire and police departments on hand to talk to kids and parents about safety. A local minor league baseball team, the Girl Scouts, and a Habitat for Humanity chapter also set up interactive booths. Local television stations and newspapers covered all three events.
