MADISON, Wis. – The National Credit Union Foundation under Steven Delfin, the new executive director, has struck upon a unique way to begin celebrating its 25th anniversary – an online fundraising auction. “In my association with the E-Philanthropy Foundation I have seen these sorts of auctions work well and to good effect,” Delfin explained. “I think it will be a fun way to build up awareness of the Foundation and raise some funds.” Delfin also explained that the Foundation was using CMarket, a firm which coordinates online auctions and allows the organizations sponsoring the auctions to have their own online space with their own brand etc. The Foundation is currently seeking donations for the auction which will commence on August 15 and run until CUNA Future Forum and in a live auction on September 26. Items the Foundation is seeking for the auction include hotel stays, time share rentals, airline tickets, and golf vacations, along with electronic items such as iPods, televisions, DVD players, as well as restaurant certificates for San Francisco, Orlando, Washington, D.C. and other conference locations as well as sporting event tickets, collectibles and celebrity memorabilia. Already the auction catalog includes a hot air balloon ride, various sports memorabilia such as a signed football helmets and signed photos of triumphant sports teams and, so far, one golf vacation.
