RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – Nine months after it launched AutoSMART in November 2004, CU Direct Corp., along with DecisionAPP, the largest point-of-sale lending platform for credit unions in the U.S., has launched its AutoSmart inventory feature the company says lets credit unions position themselves to serve their membership better by increasing the "one stop shop features of their AutoSMART Web sites. The inventory feature has two benefits: when a CUDL credit union activates the dealer inventory feature, the CUDL participating dealers will be able to display their new and used inventories on the CU's AutoSMART Web site; in addition, the CU will be able to offer its own inventory of repossessed vehicles up for auction. CU Direct says this latter feature increases the CU's opportunities to recoup its investment in bad loans, thereby reducing losses and enhancing their bottom line. Besides allowing dealers to display their inventory to all potential buyers among credit union members, CU Direct says the leads sent to the dealers through a credit union's AutoSMART program will be buyers who know what they want and can afford, so the lead is more likely to result in a sale. In addition to the inventory feature, other AutoSMART features include side-by-side comparisons, eight different calculators, and a wide range of information and FAQs to help members be "SMART" car buyers. With AutoSMART, credit unions can customize their members' experience with the CUDL Web site, such as changing the look of the CUDL Web site to reflect the CU's own Web site, for example, through color-coding and co-branding. They can also provide members access to rates, online loan applications, and "concierge" broker services.
