NEW YORK - Over six weeks after it came to light, still more credit unions are replacing credit and debit cards whose numbers were among the 40 million found to be compromised in a card security breach at CardSystems Solutions. The latest is the $2 billion Bethpage FCU which will begin replacing 7,000 debit and credit cards according to a story in Newsday. "We felt that, first of all, security and sensitivity of security is a major issue for customers and that we needed to be proactive in how we deal with the issue," Bethpage CEO Kirk Kordeleski is quoted as saying in the story." Even though there is very little consumer risk, we wanted to do everything in our power to close down the accounts." The cost of the replacement would come in between $40,000 and $50,000 that is not covered by insurance, the paper reported.
