CURIA Hits 70, Exceeds Previous Co-Sponsorship

WASHINGTON-Credit unions have outdone themselves in garnering support from lawmakers for the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 2317). As of Friday, June 24, CURIA had obtained a total of 70 co-sponsors, surpassing the 69 the bill achieved in the 108th Congress. The most recent additions to CURIA at deadline were Representatives Jon C. Porter (R-Nev.), Tim Holden (D-Pa.), Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.), Danny Davis (D-Ill.), and Gwen Moore (D-Wis.). The House Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee and Senate Banking Committee have both held hearings this month on regulatory relief that have included credit unions. CURIA would provide credit unions expanded business services powers among other things.
