ORLANDO, Fla. – More than 800 participants were welcomed by CUNA Mutual Group President/CEO Jeff Post to this year's Discovery Conference with the theme "Experience the Power." Post told attendees of his early observations of the credit union industry and the company he was named to lead five months ago. "In my first 100 days on the job, I've learned that credit unions and CUNA Mutual have a lot in common," Post said at the June 15 opening session. "We both are trusted, but we are facing challenges in the form of competition, shrinking margins and in controlling expenses." Post told the audience the company's improvement process will get a jump-start with a "Summer School" that CUNA Mutual leaders will take part in this summer. "Last week, my leadership team learned they were going to a Summer School to learn how to better serve you. Our marketplace is changing and we must change to survive and thrive in the future," Post said. According to CUNA Mutual, among the hundreds attending Discovery 2005′s Opening Session was the largest contingent of international credit union attendees in the 10-year history of Discovery Conference. More than 50 credit union officials participated from Ireland, Australia, Canada, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Trinidad, Jamaica, Belize and the U.S. Virgin Islands. [email protected]
