While I don’t wish to earn “frequent writer” mileage points, I just had to comment on Mike Welch’s June 15 column about “CU People Who Make News”. First, it’s a distinct honor to be mentioned along with dedicated, passionate credit union leaders Dick Ensweiler, Bob Rose and Jim Blaine, who have made such positive contributions to the credit union movement, and I thank Mike for his kind comments about my involvement. I’m also proud of the innovative California/Nevada league programs mentioned by Mike; however, they are not my successes, but the accomplishments of an effective “leadership partnership”, consisting of our elected officials and management staff. The programs mentioned, as well as many other successful endeavors, have generally emerged over the years as strategic imperatives from our strategic planning process, with active participation from all members of that “partnership” group. We have a fine team, all of whom understand the value of cooperation and collaboration. That’s how things get done around here, and thanks again to Mike for recognizing our progress. David L Chatfield CEO California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
