CONWAY, S.C. – Despite three hurricanes that wreaked havoc on its site last summer, Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union has finally opened its doors here. Delays ranged from removing and replacing drywall, insulation and some roofing materials due to water damage caused by eight and a half inches of rain falling in just 10 hours with the first hurricane, to removing all moisture from the building, installing a new roofing material before the metal roof was applied and sealing the remaining wood after the second and third hurricanes passed weeks later. Designed by Cincinnati design/build firm DEI Inc., the 4,300 square-foot facility features an architectural design with a residential feel and features the traditional dark red brick of the area. The curved exterior and green roof are elements that continue in other branding designs, such as marketing materials and designs of future branches. The expansive front window becomes a dynamic retail backdrop for displaying Carolina Trust’s products and services while the natural light floods the branch interior. “Although the inclement weather presented several delays, we persevered and our state-of-the-art facility was well worth the wait. Now, we are better equipped to accommodate our growing credit union membership. This beautiful modern location truly exemplifies our competitive edge,” said Conway Branch Manager Margaret D’Souza.
