St. Louis Postal Credit Union, has named the Express Club Scholarship Contest winners. The credit union awarded a total of $2,400 this year for higher education. This year’s two scholarship recipients are Jonathan Collum and Mike Puricelli. Winners were selected based on their response to the following essay question: “What are your career goals and what do you plan on doing to achieve your career goals?” Pacific Resource Credit Union, Los Angeles, has announced this year’s scholarship recipients. Scholarship selection is based on grades, overall school and/or community contribution, leadership, and need. The top scholarship recipient, Amber Stevens, was presented a check for $2,000; Thomas Fletcher received $1,500; and Helen Coupe was awarded $1,000. Augusta Metro Federal Credit Union, Ga., has named Amie E. Bryan, an Edmund Burke Academy senior, as its 2005 Scholarship recipient. AMFCU selected Bryan based on several factors including academics, community involvement, recommendations, financial need, and an essay. This is the first year that Augusta Metro FCU has offered the academic scholarship. Clearview Federal Credit Union, Charlotte, N.C., has announced local winners of the 2005 Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarship. Twins Amanda and Andrew Lathom were each awarded scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to use toward their college education. This marks the sixth Annual Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarship, presented in honor of Ralph B. Canterbury’s outstanding service and loyalty to the credit union during his 34 year tenure. Applicants are judged based on a number of criteria, including: academic performance, community activities/involvement, a statement of personal goals and an essay on “What is a credit union, anyway?” Jersey Shore Federal Credit Union, Northfield, has named high school seniors Rebecca Lee Crema and Danielle Martello as the recipients of its $500 Benson/Hunt Scholarship Awards. The teens competed against a pool of high school senior credit union members and both scored the highest points for their academic performance, extracurricular and community activities. Raritan Bay Federal Credit Union, Sayreville, N.J., has awarded Kyle DeLucca a $500 scholarship drawn on behalf of the Marion Lindson Memoriam Scholarship Fund. John. T. Lindson has been awarding this scholarship since 2000, in loving memory of his late wife, Marion. His desire is that the scholarship be given to an all-around, worthy South Amboy High School senior each spring. GHS Federal Credit Union, Binghamton, N.Y., has awarded its annual college scholarship to Chenango Forks high school senior Zachary Vredenburgh. The $500 scholarship will help pay his expenses when he begins his freshman year at Cornell University this fall. Vredenburgh was selected based on his outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements. AEDC Federal Credit Union, Tullahoma, Tenn., has awarded $1,000 scholarships to 10 deserving Middle Tennessee students. For the third consecutive year, the AEDC Federal Credit Union Scholarship will help members who plan to continue their education at an accredited college, university, technical or trade school. Checks for the $1,000 non-recurring credit union scholarship will be mailed to each student’s school of choice. Port Washington Federal Credit Union, N.Y., has announced the winners of its 2005 scholarship program. Halsey Diakow, Deon Goodman and Stefanie Fertitta have each been awarded $500 scholarships. The winners were chosen based on academic achievement, community involvement and essay responses. Co-op Services Credit Union, Livonia, Mich., has awarded scholarships totaling $11,000 to six lucky recipients. Since the scholarship program began in 1995, Co-op Services Credit Union has awarded more than $80,000 in scholarships to outstanding high school seniors who are also members.
