LAKEWOOD, Colo. -Jeffco Credit Union has helped prepare young adults for financial responsibility during its 3rd Annual Youth Expo. The forum featured vendors, informational seminars and prizes throughout the afternoon, providing youth with access to financial resources. Jeffco CU also developed a youth financial package, for teens as young as 16 years old, complete with a checking account, debit card and credit card. In order to get the debit and credit card, young adults were required to attend a 30-minute overview, presented by lending experts, on the dos and don’ts of managing credit. Upon completion of the seminar, young adults were automatically granted the debit card and credit card with a minimum line of credit of $100. The credit union also featured educational seminars on Identity Theft (young adults are the most targeted segment for identity theft); The Job Hunt (tips from human resource experts on landing a job); and Your First Car (from purchasing to insuring). “Jeffco Credit Union is resolute in its commitment to provide financial literacy to students of all ages. Money management skills acquired at an early age prevent many financial mishaps and ensure confidence in spending, saving and borrowing decisions” said Jeffco CU President/CEO Janet S. Meyers.
