HOUSTON – In honor of National Credit Union Youth Week United Community Credit Union has unveiled a new teen financial network, U-University. The teen financial education program is open to members between the ages of 13 and 18 and will allow younger credit union members to earn vouchers for certain transactions; such as deposits. The vouchers can then be used to redeem items ranging from electronics, and t-shirts to other cool gadgets. In addition to providing members with incentives for developing positive savings habits, the club includes free seminars/workshops for teens and parents and a comprehensive Web site that serves as a financial resource. “If we can help our teenagers to better understand money and finances now, they will be better off in the future,” said United Community CU President/CEO Joseph Harwell. “We’re committed to helping our teen members get a head start on their finances.”
