WASHINGTON-CUNA manned its post on Capitol Hill last week with a booth during a Financial Literacy Day event. The April 27 event to promote financial literacy was sponsored by Representatives Judy Biggert (R-Ill.) and Ruben Hinojosa (D-Texas)-co-chairs of the Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus-Senator Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii), the Jump$tart Coalition, Junior Achievement, National Council on Economic Education, and HSBC-North America. Biggert and Hinojosa co-founded the caucus in February and the April 27 event served as the highlight of Financial Literacy Month, as the result of a congressional resolution sponsored by Biggert. CUNA was one of nearly three dozen exhibitors promoting financial literacy.
