NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Langley Federal Credit Union is dedicated to financial literacy and has named Richard Hill director of member education. According to Langley FCU President/CEO Jean Yokum, the move to create the education position came from increased consumer demand. Over the past year, Langley has performed hundreds of financial presentations ranging from sessions geared towards young airmen at Langley Air Force Base to money management basics at local schools. Plans are underway to provide regular monthly seminars for the public while upping the educational content of its Web site. "LFCU, like many other credit unions, has always considered financial education to be part of our mission. We know from first-hand experience that bad financial choices impact job performance, lead to domestic problems, and often devastate lives. We're going to do everything we can to help people make wise financial decisions," said Yokum. The over $1 billion credit union's first seminar `Understanding Your Credit Score' will take place on April 21.
