Houston Texas Fire Fighters Federal Credit Union, staffers and members have raised a total of $11,000 for the Houston Fire Fighters Burned and Crippled Children’s Fund. Funds were raised by conducting car washes, bake sales, and luncheons throughout the year. In addition, HTFFFCU has named Emma Washington the 2004 Employee of the Year for her superior member service skills and cheerful demeanor. GTE Federal Credit Union, Tampa, Fla., and payment processor PSCU Financial Services, have provided a grant to St. Peter Claver Catholic School in Tampa Heights. The grant will enable students to visit Colonial Williamsburg – the world’s largest living history museum – via interactive television and Internet programming. During Electronic Field Trips, students will experience reenactments of specific historical events, such as the Boston Tea Party and the workings of the colonial economy, hosted by schoolchildren. Participating students will be able to ask questions of Colonial Williamsburg experts via phone or e-mail. Pacific Service Credit Union, Walnut Creek, Calif., has donated $5,000 to Elder Financial Protection Network (EFPN). The Novato-based EFPN is nationally recognized for developing partnerships among law enforcement agencies, adult social service providers and financial institutions to prevent the financial exploitation of California’s elderly citizens and dependent adults. The donation will be used for education, training and community awareness efforts in Northern California. GHS Federal Credit Union, Binghamton, N.Y., employees have recently donated their time to participate in “America’s Walk for Diabetes.” Teams from all over the county walked to raise dollars for important diabetes research.
