WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Those 0% financing offers from automakers that credit unions argued were misleading to consumers, are all but over. An article in the March 23rd edition of USA Today said the 0% offers are harder to find and usually cover only shorter-term loans. The 0% loans, the article states, “are increasingly holding zero appeal for automakers wrestling with higher interest rates and pushing to better target incentives to lure car buyers.” The newspaper article quoted Ford spokesman Dave Reuter as saying “zero percent is all gone.” There are of course some exceptions to this – Dodge for example is offering 0% financing on its minivans. But in most cases, the article states, the best financing is no longer 0% over 60 months. Instead it’s 1.9% for 36 months.
