ST. LOUIS – Vantage Credit Union recently took the opportunity on President’s Day to educate local CBS affiliate News 4 Morning Anchor/Reporter Virginia Kerr on the importance of financial literacy. Vantage CU Community Education Specialist Rachel Parrent, who coordinates the CU’s Money Matters program spent the morning with Kerr. Money Matters, a free service offered by the credit union since 1996, has provided financial education presentations and materials to over 36,000 students, teachers, and community groups through more than 1,300 presentations. Presentations cover personal finance topics such as saving, budgeting, credit, and checking. Kids dressed as future investors (complete with ties) woke up early on their day off to meet Kerr and discuss spending and savings habits with the popular morning anchor. Older children talked about part-time jobs and the importance of saving money while younger children guessed the names of Presidents on giant currency and offered Kerr fun facts about the Presidents they were studying at school.
