MELBOURNE, Fla. – Space Coast Credit Union's (SCCU) Airport branch near the Melbourne International Airport is the buzz of the town. The pentagon shaped 5,000 square foot building features innovative drive-thru technology including two-way video from the member to the teller, a larger lobby area, and easy access drive-up and walk-up ATMs. "The pentagon shape evolved from SCCU's request to construct a branch that would focus on the member. Regardless of where you stand in the lobby, you are the center of attention," said Doug Padgett, president of local design/build firm Building Management Systems. "We studied what functions would take place at the branch, where people would stand and sit, and concluded that the pentagon shape would provide customer-friendly traffic circulation and flexibility as the members' needs change over time." The full-service branch is equipped with four lobby offices, express loan area, five teller stations, and safe deposit boxes.
