CARY, N.C. – Credit Union Times is tops with CEO readers, based on an independent readership survey done by RDF Associates headquartered here. Highlights include the following: * Eighty-two percent of respondents said if they were limited to receiving only one credit union publication, they would choose Credit Union Times. There were no close seconds in this category. Next was CUES' Credit Union Management with just 7% of the vote. * Forty-four percent of respondents said Credit Union Times is the most useful publication for making a product or vendor selection. Credit Union Management was second with 9%, followed by Credit Union Magazine with 8% and Credit Union Journal with 5%. * The mean reading time for Credit Union Times was approximately 33.16 minutes (for each weekly issue), the highest of all credit union publications. Next up was Credit Union Magazine at 22.63 minutes (for each monthly issue), Credit Union Management at 21.45 minutes (for each monthly issue) and Credit Union Journal at 13.62 minutes (for each weekly issue). In some other interesting findings, 70% of respondents said "unbiased news stories" was the most important thing they look for in a credit union publication. That was followed closely by "feature stories" with 64% and "expert opinions" with 62%. Also, 59% of respondents said they attend between one to two national credit union conferences a year, followed by 39% indicating they attend between three to four. Eighty-five percent said that either members of their board or staff pick up a copy of Credit Union Times at these national conferences. The survey was distributed by mail to 500 CEOs randomly selected on every "nth" basis. There were no incentives or follow-up reminders for CEOs to return the survey. One hundred and eighty five responded, a 37% response rate. It was presented as a four-page questionnaire, and titled "Credit Union CEO Readership and Editorial Preference Survey, February 2005."
