VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- Chartway Federal Credit Union is doubling the number of its branches in the Houston area. Chartway FCU is opening four new branches in the Southwest Central Business District. "We are especially excited and proud to expand our presence in Houston," said Ronald L. Burniske, president/CEO of Chartway FCU. "It is a market we have served for more than two decades, providing Houston-area residents with an array of financial services that have helped our members realize many of their dreams. These new branches – with more on the way – will not only add greater convenience to our growing roster of Houston members but help us reach out to new members as well." Chartway FCU has a long history in Houston. In 1983 it acquired InterContinental Federal Credit Union, laying the foundation for its 22-year relationship with Continental Airlines, Chartway's primary select employee group in the market. Among its other 126 SEGs are ExpressJet, Eagle Global Logistics and TSA. The new branches are the first to be opened in the Houston area since the credit union reopened its Hobby Airport branch in 2000.
