NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – When the call for help went out to raise money for the victims of the Tsunami Disaster 1st Advantage Federal Credit Union and its partners, the American Red Cross, WVEC-TV, and ABNB FCU jumped into action. Many donations came from school students. Teachers came in with rolls of coin from students who donated left over lunch money and held other collections. After combining the individual contributions and the matching donation, 1st Advantage presented a total of $80,000 to the American Red Cross.
