KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Charles Cornelius has been named Educational Community Credit Union’s (ECCU) new President and CEO, effective February 1, 2005. Cornelius has been an employee of ECCU for 25 years and was promoted from the executive vice president position. Cornelius has an expansive background in managing all aspects of the credit union and overseeing the administrative activities including the areas of human resources, marketing, accounting, loans and data processing. He was also responsible for participating in ECCU’s long-range strategic planning as well as the management of the credit union’s operations. Cornelius has been active in many credit union professional affiliations and has served the greater credit union family as the vice chairman of the Kalamazoo Chapter of Credit Unions, as well as serving as a board member of the Credit Managers of Kalamazoo and as a member of the Service Centers Corporation Advisory Committee. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Western Michigan University with a major in accounting. Chuck, and his wife, Dianne, have two sons and reside in Kalamazoo.
