SEATTLE- Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union has found a home in the new Ranier Court Building, which houses 208 retirement rental units for low and moderate-income elderly and disabled. The 3,500 square foot facility is a mix of modern and traditional in an open retail environment. Members entering the branch can enter deposits and withdrawals via cash dispensers. “The cash dispensing technology in that branch is not only for member convenience and to keep wait times to a minimum but it also provides a level of security,” said SMCU Assistant Vice President of Branches Crissandra Fry. “That efficiency also helps free up staff time to dedicate to better serving members by taking the time to listen, answer their questions and get involved in the community.” Located in an area that was underserved in terms of financial services, the branch will serve the community well says Fry. As part of SMCU’s community focus, artwork by local youth from the Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club will be on display in the Rainier Avenue Branch. Community members have been invited to stop by to view each piece and vote for their favorite. Artwork can also be viewed on the credit union’s Web site www.smcu.com. SMCU will award each youth artist on the number of votes they receive: first place will receive a $500 savings bond and $100 savings bonds will be awarded to all runners up. The first place winner will be announced at the grand opening on March 12. “In addition to offering the convenience of our products and services to our South Seattle members, our Rainier Avenue branch also signifies SMCU’s ongoing growth and our commitment to diversity,” said SMCU CEO Bob Harvey. “Before each new SMCU branch is constructed, we carefully plan how we’ll benefit the particular community in which we immerse ourselves.”
