RESTON, Va. – Apple Federal Credit Union has teamed with Future Business Leaders of America -Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. to promote a national curriculum for student-run credit unions. As part of the new partnership, FBLA has adopted the credit union's curriculum and it will be made available to high schools across the country. In addition, the program includes a detailed manual for credit unions on how to launch/run a student run credit union branch. Schools that are interested in having their own student run credit union are advised to contact their local credit union. Apple FCU's Student Run Credit Union program, which promotes financial literacy in area schools through guest speeches, community service and hands-on experience in a student run credit union, currently consists of 19 schools spread over five school districts.
