FORT WORTH, Texas – Special envoys from Mexico will attend Unity One Federal Credit Union’s “Northside Community Day,” a special event culminating a two-week grand opening celebration of its newest branch. Located in the city’s historic Stockyards district, the facility is targeting the financial needs of the area’s rapidly-growing Hispanic population. “We are thrilled to open this new branch,” said Gary R. Williams, Unity One president/CEO. “It will allow us to bring much needed low-cost financial services to the large Hispanic and immigrant community living in Fort Worth’s north side.” Branch architecture and design have a distinct Mexican influence, and services are tailored toward Hispanic culture, such as multiple cash delivery systems to accommodate “families on the go.” A 65-seat community room will enable the credit union to offer financial education classes. The event will offer a variety of free services to the public, including immunizations, dental screenings, homebuying information, personal credit information, as well as a Hispanic ballet performance and a live Hispanic radio broadcast. In addition to an impressive list of U.S. dignitaries set to attend, Frances Siekman Romero, first lady of Guanajato, Mexico, and Louis Alberto Villarreal, mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, will join representatives from the Dallas Mexican Consulate Office to assist Mexican immigrants in obtaining financial assistance and documentation. “This is truly an underserved area where we believe our credit union can make a strong financial impact on the area residents,” said Scott Ward, Unity One’s COO. “The credit union philosophy is `people helping people’ and that is exactly what we intend to do with this new presence.” [email protected]
