BROOKFIELD, Wis. – Significantly more people used their debit cards at ATMs and point of sale terminals driven by Fiserv in 2004 than in the year before, according to the firm which drives Credit Union 24, the Armed Forces Financial Network and the Allpoint network. In terms of debit transactions in which the cardholder uses a personal identification number, Fiserv EFT reported total volume of 4.2 billion transactions, a 14% increase over 2003 volume. For December 2004, volume was a single-month-record 385 million transactions, an increase of 12% from December 2003. “Fiserv EFT has built considerable momentum within the EFT marketplace and the results are visible in our transaction totals,” said Grant Christenson, CEO of Fiserv EFT. “Our record transaction numbers attest to a robust service delivery capability that provides our clients and their customers with a seamless transaction processing experience at ATMs and the point-of-sale.”
