SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Redwood Credit Union is jumping into the financial literacy waters with the launch of its new Youth Accounts program. Designed to help children and teens learn the value of responsible money management while also having some fun learning, the program includes new club mascot Reddy the Redwood. “We are excited to provide a fun and educational way for kids and teens to save money, and to learn about basic financial concepts like earning dividends on their funds,” said RCU President/CEO Brett Martinez. “Learning the value of saving money at an early age helps young people to develop responsible money habits that can benefit them into adulthood and throughout their lives.” The RCU Youth Accounts program is divided into two groups: Junior Rangers, for children through age 12, and Junior Partners for teenagers 13-17. Both age groups receive dividends on the funds they save, a free gift when opening an RCU savings account, quarterly educational and fun newsletters, online account access, and a special Web site with educational games and articles.
