LOS ANGELES – Water and Power Community Credit Union has joined forces with non-profit El Rescate and No Borders/Sin Fronteras, which provides low-cost remittances and telephone communications between the United States and Latin America, to serve the Latino community of Pico Union here with a mini branch. "This alliance will serve as a model to the Latino community of Los Angeles," said WPCCU President/CEO Carl Stewart. "It is a matter of respect for people of all countries that affordable financing and legal services are actually available in their community. We are excited about continued support and collaborative effort among our three organizations." El Rescate Economic Development Director Salvador Sanabria adds, "This is a historical initiative lead by our community-based institution that will empower immigrants with transnational financial services on both sides of the borders."
