SPANISH FORT, Ala. – The Education Credit Union Council is unveiling Information Edge, a Web site specifically targeted at small credit unions that don’t have the in-house expertise or budget to originate their own. The site is being developed by Remar Sutton and Associates, Atlanta. Launch date for all credit unions signed up by March 1, 2005 will be May 1, with a minimum goal of credit unions representing 150,000 members. Participating credit unions will pay 80 cents a member the first year and 70 cents a member in following years, with a three-year minimum contract. Material from ECUC and RSA describes Information Edge as “a turnkey member education and marketing program centered around an interactive, custom Web site personalized to your credit union.” The site will be hosted on the RSA server and linked to each participating credit union Web site with credit union specific logos, addresses and custom color schemes. Each site will feature permanent sections as well as “breaking news” stories and monthly features. A check of the demonstration Web site, www.remarsuttonassociates.com/ecuc/, by Credit Union Times indicated the site draws heavily on Sutton’s status as a frequently-quoted consumer advocate who has appeared on national shows such as Dateline NBC, 20-20 and 60 Minutes and written a Washington Post column for 13 years. The permanent on-line guides cover a range of topics from car buying, mortgages and home ownership to privacy and identity theft.
