MCLEAN, Va. – A recently released survey from the National Automobile Dealers Association’s Industry Analysis Division shows 94% of new car and light truck dealerships have Web sites – up slightly from 93% in 2003 and 74% in 1999. Of these sites, 98% are interactive with most allowing consumers to view inventory and MSRPs, fill out finance forms, and schedule sales and service appointment. Others allow customers to order online and link directly to related financial, insurance and auto sites. Dealers surveyed reported their most common Web site interactions with customers are: responding to requests for price quotes and setting up service and sales appointments. More than a third of the 6% of dealerships that currently don’t have Web site, indicated they plan to have one within the next six months.
