MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – For his keen interest in American history and his 35 years of service, Clearview FCU has launched a scholarship in former President/CEO Joseph Cirelli’s name. The scholarship will help fund school students’ participation in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s Electronic Field Trips programming. Cirelli was recognized with the scholarship for his interest in American history and strong dedication to education during his farewell reception from Clearview on Nov. 13, the credit union said. Cirelli retired on Oct. 1, 2004. The Electronic Field Trips are satellite-delivered, interactive television and Internet programs that enable students to view historical events and reenactments. During the live programs, students can also ask questions of Colonial Williamsburg experts using e-mail or telephone. Colonial Williamsburg produces seven monthly field trips during the school year. Each production is supported with Web sites, lesson plans and other materials, including historical background, timelines and booklets that help teachers make the best use of the programs. Five area schools were awarded the scholarships. In September 2004, Clearview FCU changed its name from US Airways FCU and expanded to a community charter.
