WASHINGTON-During a Consumer Federation of America conference on personal finance Dec. 2, Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.) said that subprime lending would be a high priority for the House Financial Services Committee in the coming Congress. The committee, of which Kanjorski is the ranking member, plans to focus on more disclosures and loan flipping. Hopefully the Democrats will be able to moderate the Republican led legislature next year, he said. Other top issues will be terrorism insurance, Government Sponsored Enterprise reform, and insurance regulation.
