CCUL Recognizes CU Leaders for Efforts in Diversity, Advocacy, Helping Small CUs

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – The California Credit Union League took time during its recent annual meeting and convention in Las Vegas to recognize several credit union officials and individual CUs for their efforts in promoting diversity and advocacy and with helping small credit unions. The awards, which were renamed this year to celebrate the life and legacy of Kim Bannan, the League’s former VP of Credit Union Development and research and information, were presented by the Shapiro Group of credit unions during the annual meeting. Rob Graff, CEO, Antioch Schools FCU, received the League’s individual Shapiro Group Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Award. Members 1st CU received the award’s organizational counterpart for its work on behalf of smaller CUs. Diversity awards, said CCUL, were presented to one individual and one credit union “for professionally and personally helping to support an understanding of and appreciation for all cultures and ethnicities at work and in the community.” The individual award was presented to Debra-Lynne Terrill, director of member services, Xerox FCU. Water and Power Community CU received the CU award, and Butte FCU received honorable mention. Winners of the Outstanding Advocate Award were: Mark Holbrook, CEO, Cumorah CU (Nevada individual); WesCorp (credit unions); and CUNA Mutual Group (supplier). A new award, Political Professional of the Year, was presented to Richard Cooper, VP of business development, Telesis Community CU. Also announced at the annual meeting were the recipients of the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation’s Friend of the Foundation Awards recognizing contributors of $10,000 or more to the Foundation. They included: California League Services Corp.; the League’s Orange County and San Diego/Imperial Valley chapters; Liberty Enterprises; Orange County Teachers FCU; Patelco CU; Wescom CU; and WesCorp. The Foundation also announced its Patron Level contributors who gave $5,000: Addison Avenue FCU, Educational ECU, Financial Service Centers Cooperative Inc., The Golden 1 CU, Kinecta FCU, Orange County’s CU, SAFE CU, Schools Financial CU, and Travis CU.
