ALEXANDRIA, Va. – What may be the first ATM ever placed in a high school in Virginia has been placed there by a credit union. School officials said they worked with the $27 million Alexandria City Employees Credit Union to acquire the machine because so many students already have ATM cards. The machine will serve an educative purpose as well. The director of the school’s Academy of Finance said she hopes workshops will increase students’ awareness about the need to control their money. Students enrolled in the finance courses can use the ATM without paying a fee. All others will have to pay $1.50.
