ONTARIO, Calif. – CO-OP Network, the nation’s largest credit union owned, fee-free ATM network has chosen a credit union from the East Coast to try to further broaden its geographic diversity. Douglas Allman, president and CEO of the $700 million NASA Federal Credit Union, is the newest addition to the CO-OP’s board of directors. “As a CO-OP Network board member, my goal is to see the company continue to build its presence in the credit union community,” said Allman. “NASA FCU has been a member of CO-OP Network for less than a year, but we realize great value by participating in the only EFT network owned and operated by credit unions.” During his 13 years as president and CEO of Bowie Md.-based NASA FCU, Allman has helped NASA FCU become the fifth largest credit union in the state with almost 70,000 members. Founded in 1949, NASA FCU has nine branches serving employees from Washington D.C.’s NASA headquarters, the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, the National Academy of Sciences, NASA contractors and select employee groups in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia, the credit union said. “As CO-OP Network has grown in recent years, we’ve sought out board members who reflect our diverse national geography and have extensive knowledge of the credit union community,” said CO-OP Network CEO Robert Rose. “Doug Allman brings an east coast sensibility to the board of directors, and with more than two decades of work in the industry, he’ll be a great asset to CO-OP Network.” Allman currently serves as chairman for the Credit Union Mortgage Association and on the Supervisory Committee of EasCorp, in addition to board positions with the Goddard Alliance and CU Realty of Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. He previously served as board director of the STAR ATM network and as a member of several NAFCU committees.
