CUNA's Kincer Leaving for a Higher Mission

WASHINGTON-CUNA will be losing Political Director Karen Kincer to her next role in life: being a mom. Kincer is expecting twins around the beginning of the year, CUNA Vice President of Political Affairs Richard Gose explained in announcing her departure. “We applaud her decision, but we are definitely going to miss her,” he said. Kincer’s last day at CUNA was Nov. 10, just long enough to survive the 2004 campaign season. She has served at CUNA since March 1, 1999. One of her main charges has been the Credit Union Legislative Action Council, CUNA’s political action committee, but Kincer has also been heavily involved in the Get Out The Vote efforts, the Democratic conventions, and other programs during her tenure at CUNA. CULAC has grown from about $1.2 million in the 1998 election to more than $3 million for the 2004 election cycle, according to the Center for Responsive Politics’ Web site (www.opensecrets.org). “It’s been a great run here at CUNA. Credit unions have come a long way through both CULAC and participating in other political programs.I’m hopeful of seeing that work continue,” Kincer commented.
