WASHINGTON-The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency recently chose James F. E. Gillespie as its new deputy chief counsel. “Jeff is a tremendous asset to the OCC,” Acting Comptroller Julie L. Williams said, “and I know he will be terrific as he takes on these additional responsibilities.” Gillespie has served as assistant chief counsel since 1995 and was responsible for managing OCC legal projects involving electronic banking and technology. He has held a number of positions since he joined the OCC in 1979. He graduated summa cum laude from the Indiana University School of Law and earned a B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University. Gillespie succeeds Raymond Natter, who recently retired from federal government service. “Ray Natter left some big shoes to fill and we are lucky to have someone as talented as Jeff to succeed him,” Williams added.
