ST. PAUL, Minn. – A creative solution to a flu vaccine shortage has garnered Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union some great national coverage. When a nationwide vaccine shortage preempted the Fergus Falls branch’s health clinic, staffers provided cans of chicken noodle soup and tissues to attendees. The news hit the wire and aired on stations across the country. “Response to this initiative has been phenomenal,” said Affinity Plus FCU President/CEO Kyle Markland. ” From a simple article in the Star Tribune recognizing Nick’s creativity, we received a flood of inquiries and interest in this simple, from-the-heart gesture.” Markland went on to say that other Affinity Plus branches will now have supplies of soup and tissues on hand for its scheduled flu shot clinic days during the month of October. “ This also ties in very nicely with our Member Appreciation Week activities planned throughout the week of October 18,” said Markland. “We had planned on serving sandwiches for lunch to all members on Wednesday of that week, but now I am wondering if we should just have big pots of soup!”
