LA HABRA, Calif. -South Western Federal Credit Union Looney Tunes Saving Club members have spent their summer in a “piggy” feeding frenzy. During a recent two month “Feed Your Piggy” summer deposit promotion, some 900 kids club members brought in over $51,000. “We were thrilled by the overwhelming response from our youngest members,” said South Western CU President/CEO Laura Poore. “But I can’t say it was a surprise. The Looney Tunes Savings Club has been a popular way for our children to learn the value of saving.” Self-mailing brochures with brightly illustrated piggy banks, created by Anaheim, California-based marketing solutions/PR firm Aubrey & Associates were personalized using digital-on-demand technology to imprint each piece with the recipient’s name in several places. For each deposit made during the promotion period kids were entered in a drawing to win prizes ranging from Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm tickets to Toys-R-Us gift certificates. “We knew that seeing their name prominently featured on the brochure asking `Is your piggy hungry?’ would really get a child’s attention,” said Clayton Lloyd, Aubrey creative director. Wanting to keep an emphasis on education, the $138 million credit union added a “Feed your brain” reading incentive. The CU will deposit $10 into every child’s account that could provide the names of three books they read over summer break and the title of their all-time favorite book. So far South Western FCU has deposited nearly $2,000 into the accounts of club members who turned in the names of books they read.
