DCUC Exhibit at America's Credit Union Museum to Honor Role of Defense CUs in CU Movement

MANCHESTER, N.H. – A special ceremony on Oct. 22 at the America’s Credit Union Museum will recognize the contributions of the Defense Credit Union Council to the credit union movement. The ceremony will include a dedication of the DCUC exhibit at the museum designed to highlight the contributions and value defense credit unions provide to members. DCUC President Roland `Arty’ Arteaga said he was “thrilled to have the DCUC enshrined in America’s Credit Union Museum. Defense credit unions have honorably served U.S. military personnel for more than 65 years.” More than 281 credit unions serving more than 10 million members belong to the DCUC. These credit unions serve every branch of the U.S. military. The DCUC exhibit at America’s Credit Union Museum will include a panel that highlights the history of the Defense Credit Union Council, a panel that details the role of defense credit unions in the U.S. wars, and a bronze eagle to honor credit union service in the U.S. and internationally. Attendees at the Oct. 22 ceremony will include dignitaries from the U.S. military, local governments and defense credit unions. Speakers will include: Jean Yokum, DCUC Chairman and president/CEO of Hampton, Va.-based Langley FCU; Gordon Simmons, president/CEO, Portsmouth, N.H.-based Service Credit Union, chairman of the America’s Credit Union Museum and treasurer of the DCUC Board; and Arteaga.
