WASHINGTON-Representative Mark Udall (D-Colo.) recently signed on as a co-sponsor to the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 3579), bringing the total supporters to 69 congressmen. Credit unions have been lobbying hard for the legislation, which was introduced nearly a year ago, that would expand credit union business lending authorities, establish a risk-based capital system, and provide a number of regulatory relief measures. For the very same reasons, the banking groups have lobbied against it.
